TCU Hosts Grambling State in 2012 Opener

Carter Stadium after its $164 million rebuild. Overall, it's the 82nd season of TCU playing in one form or another of Amon G. Carter Stadium. *The Horned Frogs, who have the nation's longest current winning streak at eight in a row, will take the field for the first time as a member of the Big 12. TCU also has the nation's longest winning streak for conference games at 24. *With a victory, Gary Patterson would become TCU's all-time winningest coach. His 109 wins are tied with Dutch Meyer (1934-52) for the top spot in Frog history. Meyer was 109-79-13 from 1934-52, including national championships in 1935 and 1938. *Patterson's .784 winning percentage (109-30) is fourth nationally among active coaches. *TCU was one of just four schools to have a bye the opening weekend (Sept. 1) of the season. The last time the Frogs had an open date the first week was 2009, when they went 12-0 en route to the Fiesta Bowl. *TCU and Grambling State are meeting for the first time on the gridrion. *Grambling State coach Doug Williams, also a former standout for the Tigers, was the Super Bowl XXII Most Valuable Player as he quarterbacked the Washington Redskins to a 42-10 victory over the Denver Broncos in 1988.
