July 26, 2009
FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU head football coach Gary Patterson and his wife, Kelsey, have some special friends - friends that helped make the fourth-annual Gary Patterson Foundation Benefit Reception & Auction another big success recently. The sold-out event at Joe T. Garcia's featured several local celebrities, including country artist Pat Green, former Dallas Cowboy and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Rayfield Wright and State Senator Wendy Davis. Mrs. Rosie Moncrief, wife of Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief, was also in attendance. "Kelsey and I are honored by the support we have received from our friends in the Fort Worth community," Gary Patterson said. "Our TCU family is the reason we're able to make a difference in the lives of youth in our community. "Going into the event, we weren't sure what to expect because of the economy. However, the support was overwhelming. This community really cares." The event raised nearly $80,000. All funds raised by the Gary Patterson Foundation support local organizations that provide positive educational, physical fitness and life-skills opportunities for economically disadvantaged youth in the Fort Worth and surrounding communities. "The Gary Patterson Foundation is committed to helping children," Kelsey Patterson, Foundation secretary and treasurer, said. "We should provide every child that has a desire to succeed with an outlet to do so. It is also vital that we create that desire in some by allowing them to dream bigger than they ever thought was possible." Major sponsors of the event included Ann and Malcolm Louden, John and Leah Davis, Ben and Lori Loughry, J. Luther King Jr. - Luther King Capital Management, Joe and Cindy Craine, Dale and Laura Ladner, Ken and Alice Link, Steve and Rhonda Davidson, Joe T.
