March 15, 2013
IRVING, Texas -- TCU punter Cale Patterson will be recognized Thursday as the Horned Frogs' 2013 Scholar-Athlete by the National Football Foundation's Gridiron Club of Dallas.
Patterson will be honored at the club's fifth-annual awards banquet at the Marriott Quorum in Addison, Texas.
A native of Kenilworth, Ill., Patterson saw action in all 13 games for the Horned Frogs in 2012. He was utilized primarily as the holder on field goals and extra points. He also attempted three punts with a long of 46 yards.
Patterson played the 2012 season as a graduate student, having earned his TCU degree in business (marketing and entrepreneurial management). In May, he will complete a masters degree in liberal arts.
Patterson was part of a senior class that saw the Horned Frogs win three straight conference championships for the first time in program history and reach a pair of BCS games, including a 2011 Rose Bowl championship.
Patterson is one of 17 family members to have either graduated from TCU or currently be a student.
