FORT WORTH, Texas -- Former TCU defensive lineman Jared Retkofsky will play in Sunday's Super Bowl XLIII as the Pittsburgh Steelers' long snapper.
Retkofsky, in his first season on the Steelers' active roster, is the 18th former Horned Frog to be a member of a Super Bowl team.
Retkofsky was a three-year letterman (2004-06) for TCU, totaling 34 tackles in his career. Eight of those stops were for a loss, including 4.5 sacks. At one time, he held the TCU weight room record in the broad jump (10-1) for defensive linemen.
A native of Justin, Texas, Retkofsky served as TCU's deep snapper in 2005 and 2006. He played in all 36 TCU games his final three seasons and in the last 40 dating back to his redshirt freshman campaign in 2003.
Retkofsky recorded a career-best 17 tackles, including three sacks, as a sophomore in 2004.
