FORT WORTH, Texas -- ESPN.com has ranked TCU as the nation's 10th-best football program for the decade of the 2000s.
TCU posted seven seasons of at least 10 wins from 2000-09. Included in that stretch were five campaigns with at least 11 victories, including a 12-0 mark and No. 3 ranking for the 2009 regular season. The Horned Frogs capped the decade by earning a trip to their first BCS game.
TCU's 95-29 (.766) won-loss record for the 2000s ranks seventh nationally.
TCU won four conference championships in three different leagues (WAC, 2000; Conference USA, 2002; Mountain West, 2005 and 2009).
Gary Patterson was named TCU's head coach prior to the 2000 Mobile Alabama Bowl. He is a three-time conference coach of the year and the consensus 2009 National Coach of the Year.
The Horned Frogs' decade began with LaDainian Tomlinson leading the country in rushing en route to the Doak Walker Award as the nation's top running back. TCU closed the 2000s with defensive end Jerry Hughes becoming a two-time consensus All-American and the 2009 recipient of the Lott Trophy and Ted Hendricks Award.
