TCU head football coach Gary Patterson is one of three finalists for the Eddie Robinson Award, which is presented annually by the Football Writers Association of America to college football's coach of the year.

Patterson, who will attend the awards banquet in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Thursday, January 8, is joined by LSU's Nick Saban and Navy's Paul Johnson as the three finalists for the award. The winner of the award will be announced at a 6 p.m. ceremony at The Phoenician Resort.

Michael Watkins, the grandson of legendary coach Eddie Robinson, will present the award on Thursday.

Patterson owns a 27-11 record in three seasons guiding the Horned Frogs, including an 11-2 record in 2003. The Frogs have finished in the nation's top 25 each of the past two seasons, the first time TCU has been ranked at the end of the season in back-to-back years since 1958-59.
