FORT WORTH—The TCU men’s basketball team has been selected to play in the 2013 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout during next year’s Thanksgiving holiday weekend, the tournament announced this week. The appearance will be the second for the Horned Frogs in the event’s history.
Joining TCU in next year’s field will be the host, Alaska Anchorage, as well as Denver, Harvard, Indiana State, Iowa, Pepperdine and Tulsa. The tournament will be played Nov. 27-30 at Alaska Anchorage’s Sullivan Arena.
TCU will be making its second all-time appearance in the Great Alaska Shootout field, also playing in the event in 1995. The Frogs will look for better results this time around after dropping all three games in former head coach Billy Tubbs’ second season on campus.
The trip to Alaska will be TCU’s third to the state overall, as the squad also played in the 1999 Top of the World Classic hosted by Alaska Fairbanks.
