Men's hoops entertain Tarleton State in regular-season opener tomorrow

TCU vs. Tarleton State Game Notes
FORT WORTH, Texas - A pair of regular-season streaks will be put on the line tomorrow when TCU men's basketball hits the court to kick off the 2005-06 campaign against Tarleton State. The Horned Frogs, winners of five straight season openers, have a 24-game winning streak in home openers. Game is set for 7 p.m. in the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. The regular-season home opener is one of two games that will count towards the Las Vegas Holiday Invitational, which takes place Nov. 25-26. TCU owns a 24-game winning streak in home openers, dating back to the 1981-82 season. The last time the Frogs lost a home opener came against Westmont College in a 53-52 defeat on Nov. 28, 1980. In addition, the Frogs have opened the last five regular season games with consecutive wins. Tarleton State is ranked No. 1 in four Division II preseason polls. Lonn Reisman is in his 17th season as the Texans' head coach. In addition, he has been the school's athletics director the past 12 years. The last time the Horned Frogs kicked off the regular- season campaign against a Division II team was Nov. 30, 1994. TCU defeated Midwestern State by a 119-78 score. Tuesday, Nov. 15, marked the Texans' regular-season opener, a 76-53 home victory over Howard Payne. TCU is Tarleton State's first Division I matchup of the regular season but second of the 2005-06 campaign. The Texans' stunned Lamar, 65-62, in an exhibition game Nov. 9. FROG EXHIBITIONS Nile Murry, Judson Stubbs, Femi Ibikunle, Brent Hackett and Neiman Owens started both exhibitions. The group tallied 118 of the 161 points for the two games combined. The Frogs got impressive scoring performances from sophomores Brent Hackett and Neiman Owens. Hackett compiled 12 and 14 points, respectively, while Owens posted 17 points against Calgary and added nine in the final exhibition with Cameron. Senior Chudi Chinweze was back in action for the first time since a knee injury ended his season in 2004-05. The 6-foot-7 forward grabbed eight rebounds apiece in both exhibitions. He also picked up five steals and added a pair of assists.
