TCU Crushes Northwestern State, 102-69
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) (Nov. 17) - Ryan Carroll scored 23 points to lead TCU's four double-digit scorers as the Horned Frogs opened their season at home Friday night with a 102-69 win over Northwestern State.
The win extended TCU's home-opener winning streak to 20. The Horned Frogs' last home-opening loss came in the 1980-82 season to Westmont College.
Mike Byars-Dawson hit a 3-pointer with 7:08 left in the first half to trim the Demons' deficit to 31-25.
TCU responded with a 26-1 scoring streak that extended into the second half to put the game out of reach.
Six of the last eight points in the run came off Demon turnovers, with Derrick Davenport getting 11 points during the stretch.
Northwestern State never got closer than 28 points.
Carroll was 4-of-7 from 3-point distance. The senior went over 1,000 career points with his final 3-pointer. Davenport added 15 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots.
Byars-Dawson, a Fort Worth Dunbar alumnus, led the Demons with 20 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. He also had nine turnovers.
