FORT WORTH--The TCU men's basketball team held its annual Season Tip-Off Dinner on Sunday evening on the floor of Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, giving Horned Frogs fans their first chance of the season to see the squad in action.
The Frogs, entering their first season under head coach Trent Johnson, entertained nearly 400 guests with activities both on and off the court. Following a catered meal and brief introduction of the players and staff by Johnson, the Frogs went through several practice drills to show off the new staff's approach and the new team's talents. Senior forward Connell Crossland also wowed the crowd by winning a spirited slam dunk contest over a pair of teammates, junior guard Jarvis Ray and freshman guard Charles Hill Jr.
The highlight of the evening came at the end of the night, as Johnson and the Frogs got TCU students involved in the act. Four Frogs, junior forward Amric Fields, junior guard Nate Butler Lind, sophomore guard Kyan Anderson and freshman guard Clyde Smith III, all paired up with a TCU student in a 3-point contest, with the Anderson team coming out on top. Johnson then put up a $1,000 prize to the winner of a free-throw shooting contest, as Megan Affrica bested three others.
