TCU head men's basketball coach Jim Christian announced on Tuesday (June 24) that Dawson Community College standout Gregory Richardson (Jacksonville, Fla./Dawson Community College) has been added to the Horned Frogs' roster for the upcoming 2008-09 campaign.

"We are very excited to have Greg join our team," said Christian. "He's a very long, athletic and versatile player as well as a very good student in the classroom. He's a player that has a tremendous upside and continues to get better and better with every season so we're really excited to have him in our program."

During the 2007-08 campaign - Richardson concluded his sophomore season by averaging 7.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game en route to leading the Bucs to a 19-9 overall record. The 6-8 forward appeared in 26 games where he recorded a team-high 13 blocked shots while connecting on 53.9 percent (76-of-141) of his field goal attempts for Dawson Community College.

Richardson recorded nine double-digit rebounding affairs this past season - including a Region IX-high total of 21 boards against Little Big Horn. The newly-added Frog ranked 12th in the Mon-Dak Athletic Conference in rebounds per game with an 8.0 boards per evening average while leading the Bucs in the statistical category. In conference action - Richardson ranked fourth among all players in the Mon-Dak Athletic Conference in rebounds per game (8.6 R-G) while averaging 8.0 points per game and connecting on 56.7 percent (38-of-67) of his field goal attempts.

The 6-8 forward recorded seven double-doubles during his sophomore campaign - including a 22-point, 15-rebound performance against Montana State-Bottineau where he connected on 7-of-10 tries from the field to go along with a perfect 8-of-8 evening at the charity stripe. Richardson also recorded 15 points and 11 rebounds against Bismarck State College and notched a 14-point, 14-rebound evening against Miles Community College in the regular-season opener for the Bucs.

Richardson put together a 15-point, 10-rebound performance against Eastern Montana Community College and followed up with second consecutive double-double against Bismarck State College with a 14-point, 13-rebound evening.

During his sophomore campaign - Richardson ranked 13th in the Mon-Dak Athletic Conference in blocked shots and was part of a Bucs' program that averaged 84.5 points per evening - third highest in Region IX action. The newly-added Frog was selected as the recipient of the Mon-Dak Basketball Athletic All-Academic Award following the 2007-08 campaign.

Richardson appeared in 27 games for Dawson Community College during his rookie season where he averaged 7.4 points after connecting on 55.0 percent (77-of-140) of his field goal attempts. The Bucs' rookie led the squad in rebounding as he tallied 200 total rebounds - including 125 defensive and 75 offensive - en route to finishing with a team-high 7.4 boards per game average. Richardson recorded nine games where he recorded 10 or more rebounds and posted eight games of 10 or more points - including a 17-point performance against Miles Community College.

In his first season - Richardson recorded four double-doubles (all coming in the span of four games) - including an 18-point, 20-rebound performance against Little Big Horn where the 6-8 forward connected on 6-of-9 attempts from the field. He also followed up that performance with double-doubles against Bismarck State (12 points / 10 rebounds), North Dakota State College of Science (11 points / 11 rebounds) and United Tribes Technical College (14 points / 13 rebounds).

Richardson becomes the third junior college player to be added to the Purple and White roster - joining Edvinas Ruzgas (Vilnius, Lithuania/Weatherford College) and Zvonko Buljan (Split, Croatia/ Vincennes University) and the fifth overall player along with incoming freshmen Ronnie Moss (Fort Worth, Texas/Christian Life Academy) and Kavon Rose (Detroit, Mich./Finney H.S.)
