TCU head men's basketball coach Jim Christian announced on Wednesday that Eric Haut has been promoted to assistant coach while Cody Hopkins will join the Horned Frogs as the Director of Basketball Operations.

"I'm really excited to have both of these guys on our staff," said Christian. "Eric has been around our system for a long time as both a player and coach, and I'm excited to be working with the sidelines with him again. He is a young coach that can really relate and teach our players. Cody is a great addition because he is very well-known in the State of Texas, especially in the Metroplex. He is a young and energetic, and it's great to have him as part of our program."

After spending the 2008-09 campaign as the TCU's Director of Basketball Operations, Haut was promoted to assistant coach - a position that he held for two seasons at Kent State under Christian. A graduate of Kent State, Haut returned to his alma mater after spending one season as the graduate assistant coach at Western Kentucky under current South Carolina head men's basketball coach Darrin Horn.

During his two seasons on the sidelines at Kent State with Christian, Haut was part of a Golden Flashes' program that posted a 49-18 overall record, including a 28-7 record and a NCAA Tournament berth during the 2007-08 season. That campaign, the Golden Flashes earned their first-ever top-25 ranking after peaking at 23rd in the nation and garnered a ninth-seed in the NCAA Tournament, which was the highest-seed for Kent State in program history.

A native of Huntsville, Texas, Hopkins comes to the TCU men's basketball program after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Indian Hills Community College where he helped the Warriors post a 58-13 overall record during his tenure. The Warriors posted a 30-3 mark during the 2008-09 campaign and were ranked as high as second in the country in the NJCAA Division I standings.

Hopkins - the son of a former San Houston State and Texas A&M-Kingsville head coach Jerry Hopkins - spent one season as an assistant coach at Angelo State University and helped coach Team Texas, the second-ranked AAU program in the country. The TCU Director of Basketball Operations earned his degree and played his senior season of basketball at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma.
