FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU athletics director Danny Morrison has announced that head men's basketball coach Neil Dougherty will not return to coach the Horned Frogs in the 2008-09 season.

Dougherty compiled a 75-108 (.410) record in six seasons with the Frogs. TCU was 14-16 overall and 6-10 in Mountain West Conference play this year. The Frogs' season came to a close Thursday with an 89-88 loss to UNLV in the quarterfinal round of the MWC Tournament.

"We appreciate Neil's contributions to TCU over the last six years," Morrison said. "He cares deeply about the student-athletes and always had their best interests at heart. He put a lot of time and effort into the job, and we wish him the best in the future."

Prior to coming to TCU in March 2002, Dougherty spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at Kansas.

A national search will immediately begin for TCU's next head men's basketball coach.
