Beyond the Arc
• Edvinas Ruzgas was selected as the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week on Dec. 21 after scoring a career-high 32 points, including seven three-pointers, in a home victory over St. Gregory's. The TCU senior is averaging 12.0 points per game this season, including 13 double-digit scoring performances and five 20-plus scoring efforts.
• The TCU senior is currently ranked third in the Mountain West Conference in three-point field goal percentage (.421 | 51-of-121), fifth in field goal percentage (.503 | 95-of-189) and three-point field goals made per game (2.2 3FGM-G), sixth in minutes played per game (31.3 MP-G) and 10th in scoring average (12.0 P-G).
• Ruzgas posted 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including 4-of-6 from behind the three-point line, in 36 minutes of action against Wyoming. In TCU's triple-overtime victory over Texas State, Ruzgas finished with 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting, including 4-of-5 from behind the three-point line, in addition to grabbing seven rebounds in a career-high 49 minutes of action.
• Ruzgas has connected on 50.0 percent or higher of his total field goal attempts in 13 of 23 games this season and currently ranks 108th in the country in three-point field goals made per game (2.2 3FGM-G).
• Ruzgas connected on seven three-pointers against St. Gregory's, which is the fifth-highest total in TCU single-game history. In addition, his seven three-pointers were the third-most in the Mountain West Conference (behind BYU's Jimmer Fredette • 9 at Arizona and New Mexico's Roman Martinez • 8 vs. San Diego). The TCU senior has connected on at least one three-pointer in 17 of 23 games and tallied at least two three-pointers in 15 of 23 games this season.
• The TCU senior posted a milestone against Rice on Jan. 2 as Ruzgas collected his 500th career point for the Frogs. During his TCU career, Ruzgas is averaging 10.8 points per game and has posted a double-digit scoring performance in 28 of 54 games.
First Time Double-Double
• In the Frogs' 108-99 triple overtime victory over Texas State, Ronnie Moss and Kevin Butler became the first set of TCU teammates to post their first-ever double-double in the same game. A pair of sophomores, Moss finished with 18 points and 12 assists while Butler collected 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Three-Headed Monster
• Ronnie Moss, Zvonko Buljan and Edvinas Ruzgas have combined for 891 of TCU's 1,559 points this season (57.2 percent).
Home Court Success
• The Frogs have notched 417 triumphs in the 49-year history of Daniel-Meyer Coliseum and have posted a winning percentage of .630 (417-245) on their home court. The Frogs played their 650th game at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum on Nov. 13th where TCU posted a 74-69 victory over Mid-America Christian University.
• Over the past 15 seasons, the Frogs have accumulated a 169-73 (.698) overall record at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum while posting at least 10 victories on their home court on 11 occasions.
Around the Nation
• The Frogs have five scholarship players from the State of Texas, which is the lowest number of home state scholarship players since the 1998-99 season when TCU had two players from the State of Texas. Moss (Fort Worth) and Butler (Duncanville) are natives of the Metroplex while Lancon (Houston), Roberson (Houston) and Green (Missouri City) are all from the Houston area.
Strong Family Tree
• The Frogs have three players who have family ties to professional and collegiate backgrounds in Thorns, Green and Bavcevic.
• Thorns' father, Henry, was a standout on the football field for UNLV before playing professionally in the Canadian Football League.
• Thorns' cousin, C.J. Watson, played four seasons at the University of Tennessee where he graduated ranked second in program history in assists and steals. Currently, Watson is a member of the Golden State Warriors.
• Green's brother, Gerald Jr., went directly from high school to the NBA and was drafted by the Boston Celtics with the 18th overall selection in the 2005 NBA Draft. Currently, Green is playing professionally in Russia.
• Bavcevic's father, Niksa, is the head coach for TROGIR ZP, which is one of the best teams in Croatia's A-1 League.
Horned Frog 500
• The Frogs have had three players reach their 500th career point in Zvonko Buljan (Dec. 8 vs. Texas Tech), Ronnie Moss (Dec. 23 vs. Houston) and Edvinas Ruzgas (Jan. 2 vs. Rice). In addition, Keion Mitchem needs 15 points (485 career) to reach the 500-point milestone.
Non-Conference; No Problem at Home
• Over the last four seasons, the Frogs have posted a 27-7 overall record (.794 winning percentage) against non-conference opponents at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
The Butler Did It!
• Kevin Butler is currently ranked third in the Mountain West Conference in offensive rebounds per game (2.8 R-G) and 12th in rebounds per game (5.2 R-G). The Duncanville, Texas, native is also ranked second on the team in rebounds per game and has recorded at least five rebounds in 11 of 23 games this season.
• The 6-4 forward recorded his first career double-double in a triple overtime victory over Texas State where Butler finished with 13 points to go along with a career-high 11 rebounds. The Duncanville, Texas, standout collected a career-high 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting to go along with five rebounds and two steals in 27 minutes of action in a home victory over Rice.
• Butler has recorded 119 total rebounds this season with 65 (54.6 percent) of them coming on the offensive glass. In addition, Butler has recorded 11 rebounds on two occasions (Mid-America Christian | Texas State) and collected nine rebounds in a home victory over St. Gregory's. Butler has collected at least five points and five rebounds in 11 of 23 games this season.
• This season, Butler is averaging 23.7 minutes per game (up from 17.3 minutes a season ago), ranks fourth on the team in court time. In addition, the TCU sophomore has already surpassed his season-highs from a year ago in 10 statistical categories, including total points, total rebounds, field goals made, field goal attempts, free throws made and blocked shots.
The Green Mile
• In his first season with the Frogs, Garlon Green has recorded five double-digit scoring performances, including a career-high 18 points in 29 minutes of action against Texas State. In the triple overtime victory over the Bobcats, Green connected on 10-of-14 attempts from the free throw line to go along with eight rebounds and one assist.
• The 6-7 freshman made his first collegiate start against SMU as part of the State Farm DFW Duel where he saw action in 14 minutes in a victory over the Mustangs. Green currently ranks fifth on the team in free throws made (32) and fifth in free throw attempts (43) while connecting on 74.4 percent (32-of-43) of his charity stripe attempts.
• Green posted his fourth double-digit scoring performance of the season with 10 points in a home victory over St. Gregory's. In addition, the TCU freshman notched 10 points, including 4-of-4 at the free throw line, to go along with four rebounds and one blocked shot against 23rd-ranked Texas Tech.
King of the Hill
• Greg Hill scored a career-high 17 points, including four three-pointers and 5-of-6 shooting at the free throw line, in 31 minutes of action against Wichita State. In addition, the TCU junior also recorded six other double-digit scoring performances: Nebraska (11 points), Texas State (11), Houston (11), Air Force (12), UNLV (13) and BYU (11).
• In his first season with the program, Hill is ranked fourth on the team in scoring average (7.0) and total points (147) and has posted at least five points in 15 of 21 games. In addition, Hill is ranked third on the team in three-point field goal attempts (81) and three-point field goals made (22). The TCU junior has connected on at least one three-pointer in 15 of 21 games this season.
• Hill has recorded a double-digit scoring performance in four games when playing less than 20 minutes of court time: UNLV (13 points in 18 minutes); Air Force (12 points in 18 minutes); Houston (11 points in 19 minutes) and BYU (11 points in 20 minutes).
"X" Marks the Spot
• In his first season with the Frogs, Xavier Roberson appeared in 22 games, including five starts, where he is averaging 4.0 points and 0.9 assists per game in 12.8 minutes per evening. Roberson is currently ranked fifth on the team in assists (22) and assists per game (0.9 A-G) and has dished out at least two assists in four games this season.
• The TCU freshman earned his first trip to the starting lineup against Northern Colorado where he collected his first career double-digit scoring performance (10 points). In his second career start, Roberson notched a career-high 11 points to go along with two rebounds in 27 minutes of action against Rice
• Roberson has started six games this season where he is averaging 6.5 points and 20.5 minutes per game in his starting role. As a non-starter, Roberson is averaging 3.1 points and 9.9 minutes per game.
Same Game Double-Doubles
• Against UT Pan American, Moss and Buljan each recorded a double-double, which was the second time this season that TCU has achieved the feat. In a triple-overtime victory over Texas State, Moss and Butler each notched their first-ever double-doubles.
Everybody Sees Playing Time
• All 13 players dressed for the Frogs saw action in a home victory over Rice. This was the second time this season that the Frogs have played all 13 players. The Frogs played all 11 players that dressed against Utah.
