TCU Passes Nevada in Final Seconds

RENO, Nev. (AP) (Jan. 13) - Greedy Daniels' free throw with 4.8 seconds left gave TCU an 89-88 victory over Nevada Saturday night in the Western Athletic Conference.
Myron Anthony scored 32 points and had eight rebounds for TCU (13-4, 3-1 WAC), which squandered a 17-point first-half lead. Derrick Davenport added 17 points and Daniels 14.
Terrance Green had 23 points for Nevada (7-8, 0-4 WAC), which lost its sixth straight. Joao Santos added 16 and Adrian McCullough 15.
The Wolf Pack missed 16 of 34 free throws, including the second of two by Richard Stirgus with 24 seconds to go after Stirgus had made the first to tie the game at 88-88.
Nevada's Andre Hazel lost control of his dribble at midcourt on Nevada's final possession, and the ball went out of bounds with .5 seconds left.
Green gave the Wolf Pack its last lead, 87-86, by making one of two free throws with 1:10 left. Anthony's two free throws put TCU back in front 88-87 with 57.3 seconds remaining.
Daniels' 3-pointer with 4:03 left in the first half extended the Horned Frogs' lead to 41-24 before Nevada outscored TCU 18-6 to pull within 47-42 at halftime.
