Horned Frogs Record 68-64 Triumph over McNeese State

Kevin Langford (Fort Worth, Texas | University of California) finished with 22 points and six rebounds en route to leading the TCU men's basketball program to a 68-64 victory over McNeese State at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum on Saturday (Nov. 22).
Zvonko Buljan (Split, Croatia | Vincennes University) posted his best game of the season for the Frogs with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting to go along with four rebounds in 20 minutes of action.
Edvinas Ruzgas (Vilnius, Lithuania | Weatherford College) collected nine points in 36 minutes of action while Keion Mitchem (Rochester, N.Y. | Rochester East H.S.) and Kevin Butler (Duncanville, Texas | Duncanville H.S.) added seven and six points, respectively, for the Frogs.
The Frogs were able to control the pace and scoreboard for the majority of the first half of action and held their biggest lead of 16 points heading into the locker rooms. With a double-digit lead in its possession, TCU was able to build its 16-point advantage heading into the locker room at 39-23 following a pair of free throws by Langford with 12 seconds left before intermission.
The Frogs connected on 53.8 percent (14-of-26) of their first half shots - including 90.9 percent (10-of-11) of their attempts from the charity stripe. The Frogs also forced McNeese State into 16 miscues during the first frame.
The Cowboys were able to cut into the deficit early in the second half and got within striking distance with less than a minute in the game after P.J. Alawoya connected on a lay-up with 10 seconds to cut the lead to one point at 65-64. A lay-up and free throw by Ruzgas allowed the Frogs to rebuild their lead to four points en route to holding onto the victory.
For McNeese State - Alawoya posted a double-double for the Cowboys following a 21-point, 15-rebound performance while Diego Kapelan notched 15 points to go along with four rebounds in 24 minutes of action.
With the triumph - the Horned Frogs improved to 2-3 on the season and 1-1 on their home court while the Cowboys fell to 1-2 on the 2008-09 campaign.
TCU will return to the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum on Wednesday (Nov. 26) as the Frogs square-off against cross-town rivals SMU in the State Farm DFW Duel. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
