Men's Basketball Falls To UAB, 77-71

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Will Campbell scored 30 points and grabbed 19 rebounds as UAB beat TCU 77-71 on Tuesday night.
UAB (10-11, 3-5 Conference USA) turned up the defensive pressure, limiting TCU to its lowest point total and lowest field goal percentage (31 percent) this season.
The Blazers outscored TCU 10-6 in the game's final 4:01 to clinch the win.
Campbell and Eric Batchelor (12 points) were the only UAB players to score in double figures
Junior Blount led TCU (10-11, 3-5) with 31 points, including a stretch when he scored 18 consecutive points in the second half. Blount, who hit six three-pointers in 14 attempts, scored at least 30 points for the third time this season.
"It is not a fun game, when you cannot shoot, especially inside", said head coach Billy Tubbs. " It was amazing that we were even in the game, considering that we shot 26 percent in the first half and 31 percent for the game."
"The biggest difference tonight was there were eight players on the floor that just cannot shoot and for the first 30 minutes, there was nine. The only player, on either team, that was making shots was (Will) Campbell. He was the only guy doing anything, and basically he was a man playing with a bunch of children. I can see why teams in this league do not run, because they are too busy knocking each other down. Teams can't shoot because they are spending more time lifting weights than shooting baskets."
