TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ B.B. Waldon scored a career-high 37 points to lead six South Florida players in double figures as the Bulls ran past TCU 117-108 in the Conference USA opener for both Saturday night.

Altron Jackson and Will McDonald each scored 14 points for South Florida (10-3, 1-0), which set a scoring record in a league game and tied its second-highest point total in school history.

Mike Bernard added 12 points for the Bulls, and Jimmy Baxter and Marlyn Bryant scored 11 apiece. Reggie Kohn contributed a career-high 14 assists.

Junior Blount led TCU (10-5, 0-1) with 31 points.

The Horned Frogs, who came in ranked third offensively in the nation with an 89.9 average, also got double-digit scoring from Bingo Merriex (22), Jamal Brown (20), Corey Santee (18) and Marlon Dumont (13).

TCU, making its conference debut, stayed close until midway through the first half. The teams were tied seven times before South Florida scored 18 unanswered points to lead 47-29 with six minutes left.

TCU responded with a 9-2 run but trailed 64-47 at the intermission. The Horned Frogs drew no closer than the final nine-point deficit.
