In his first season with the Purple and White - Ortiz played a vital role in the low post where he ranked second on the Frogs with 5.1 rebounds per game while appearing in 29 games - including 15 trips to the starting lineup... concluded his junior season ranked sixth in the Mountain West Conference in offensive rebounds (2.07 R-G) and 14th in rebounds per game (5.1 R-G)... notched five or more rebounds in 16 of 29 games... ranked fourth on the team in scoring average at 5.1 points per game - including five games of 10 or more points... recorded a career-high 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field - including 1-of-1 from behind the three-point arc - in TCU's last-second 74-72 victory over New Mexico (Jan. 15)... scored 12 points to go along with five rebounds on the road at BYU (Feb. 6)... grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds to go along with eight points on the road at UNLV (Mar. 1)... notched 11 rebounds - including five offensive boards - at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum against Wyoming (Jan. 12)... scored 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting to go along with seven rebounds in a victory over Jackson State (Dec. 27)... nearly recorded his first career double-double (points-rebounds) with a nine-point, nine-rebound performance against Grambling State (Nov. 21)...scored 10 points to go along with two steals in a victory over Colorado State (Feb. 20)... notched nine points to go along with seven points at home in a victory over Texas Southern (Dec. 8)... earned a spot in the starting rotation in 15 of the final 16 games of the season.
2005-07 | Colby Community College
Ortiz played a pair of seasons at Colby Community College where he averaged 8.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game during his sophomore campaign... ranked first on the squad with 41 blocked shots and second on the team with 40 steals during his final season.

A native of Cali, Colombia - Ortiz played basketball at Liceo Colombia Libra where he averaged 23.4 points, 13.8 rebounds and 5.8 steals per game during his junior season... earned three letters on the hardwood during his prep career.
