Clyde Smith III, a Houston native, arrived at TCU after spending three seasons at a New England-area prep school, The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Conn. ... a three-star recruit according to Rivals.com, Smith was ranked as the nation's No. 50 point guard prospect by ESPN and the No. 27 overall player in the state of Texas ... New England Recruiting Report rated him as the No. 3 prospect overall in the state of Connecticut and No. 12 in all of New England. He is coached at The Hotchkiss School by Fred Benjamin ... prior to attending Hotchkiss, played his freshman year at Houston-area Cypress Creek High School ... played for the Hew Heights club team on the New York City AAU ciruit ... in addition to basketball, also compted in track and field at Hotchkiss, finishing third in the long jump at the 2012 New England Championships ... also recruited by Boston, Boston College, Iowa, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Stanford, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Western Kentucky.
