Butler gained tremendous experience for the Frogs in his first season as he was the only freshman to appear in all 31 games while making two trips to the starting lineup... earned his first trip to the starting lineup for the Frogs against the Air Force Academy (Feb. 18)... collected his best game of the season against nationally-ranked Clemson (Nov. 15) where he posted a career-high nine points, including 2-of-2 from behind the three-point arc, to go along with six steals, four rebounds, two assists in 28 minutes of action... recorded the most steals in a game among all players in the Mountain West Conference with six against Clemson (Nov. 15)... scored nine points on 4-of-8 shooting to go along with six rebounds and two steals in 19 minutes of action against St. Gregory's (Nov. 29)... collected nine points, including 4-of-4 at the free throw line, to go along with five rebounds and two assists in 17 minutes of action in the Mountain West Conference opener against Colorado State (Jan. 3)... scored seven points to go along with three rebounds in 26 minutes of action against BYU (Feb. 14)... grabbed a career-high seven rebounds, including five defensive boards, in a home victory over Colgate (Dec. 30)... ranked second on the team in steals (28) and third in rebounds (99) and rebounds per game (3.2 R-G)... ranked sixth among all Mountain West Conference freshmen in rebounds per game (3.2 R-G).
Prep Career
A tremendous talent from one of the top high school programs in the nation, Butler came to the Purple and White from a Duncanville High School program that was nationally-recognized by USA Today... ranked 16th in the State of Texas according to TexasHoops.com in the Class of 2008... concluded his senior campaign by averaging 13.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game en route to securing Texas All-State honors... recorded 16 points to go along with a game-high 11 rebounds at the 43rd Annual Faith 7 Game between Team Texas and Team Oklahoma... selected to the Rumble on the Ridge All-Tournament Team after scoring 15 points to give Duncanville the team title with a 66-62 triumph over Putnam City High School... guided a Panthers' program that finished with a 36-2 overall record, including a 14-0 conference record, during his senior campaign... scored a game-high 28 points against DFW-rivals North Crowley High School in the Region I semifinals during his senior campaign... garnered Most Valuable Player honors at the 2007 Texas 5A State Championships after guiding his prep program to a 60-46 victory in the gold medal game... served as a valuable member of a Duncanville High School program that finished with a 39-0 record, including a seventh-place showing in the USA Today final poll... led a team that was pre-season ranked first in the nation according to Rivals.com as well as the FAB-50 for pre-season rankings according to NJ.com... aided a Duncanville program that was ranked fourth in the nation and the only team in the State of Texas to be listed on ESPN's Elite High School Boys' Basketball Team.
