FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU baseball team is set to open fall practice Wednesday afternoon. The six-week practice schedule will see the Frogs through Oct. 24. Along the way, the squad will participate in 15 intrasquad games.
"We are anxious to begin fall practice and see what kind of team we may have and what areas of the game we need to improve on between now and February 19," said head coach Jim Schlossnagle. "I know the players are ready to begin intrasquad games and the staff is excited to begin the evaluation process. We have a lot of work to do both on and off the field to be the kind of team we want to be and reach the very high goals that this program has yearly."
TCU is coming off its most successful season in school history after pushing the No. 1 national seed, Texas, to a decisive third game in the NCAA Super Regionals. After earned a No. 1 seed and hosting a regional for the first time, the Frogs claimed the Fort Worth Regional crown, advancing them to the second round of the playoffs. TCU finished the season with their fourth 40-win campaign under head coach Jim Schlossnagle at 40-18.
"I want the fall 15 game series to be incredibly competitive," said Schlossnagle. "The only way you can truly learn about your team and each individual player is to see them in a competitive environment. I want to personally invite all Horned Frog fans to come out to one of the games and get an early glimpse of our team."
The Frogs return 24 members from the 2009 squad and welcomed 13 newcomers this fall.
