Sept. 9, 2010
FORT WORTH, Texas - Coming off an historical 2010 campaign, the TCU baseball team will get preparations for the 2011 season underway Friday, Sept. 10. The fall practice schedule will see the Frogs through Oct. 23.
Led by NCBWA National Coach of the Year, Jim Schlossnagle, the 2010 squad advanced to its first-ever College World Series and came within a game of the CWS Championship Series. Ranked No. 3 by all the major polls to end the season, the expectations for the 2011 season are high. The Frogs return their entire starting rotation and seven starters in the field. The team will also welcome 11 newcomers.
"We are all excited to get back onto the field with this particular group of players," remarked head coach Jim Schlossnagle. "Last season was a fun ride and very successful, however, we are back at ground zero and the players realize that we all have to put in the work on and off the field to improve both individually and as a team in order to reach the lofty goals our program has."
The team will practice during the week beginning at 2:15. Saturday practices are tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m., but are open to change due to the TCU home football schedule. Sunday and Wednesday will be the scheduled off-days, but may be used in the event of weather issues. The team is tentatively scheduled to scrimmage on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays with the first one coming on Sept. 11 beginning at Noon.
All intrasquad games are open to the public. To confirm practice times, please call Meredith Montgomery, Director of Baseball Operations, at 817-257-5155.
