Winkler Adds To All-America Honors

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU junior pitcher Kyle Winkler added to his All-America honors as he has been named a third-team All-American by the NCBWA. He was previously honored as a third-team All-American by Louisville Slugger.
Winkler enjoyed a tremendous junior campaign that culminated in being drafted in the 10th round by the Arizona D'Backs. In 14 appearances, he posted an 8-2 record to go along with a miniscule 1.39 ERA. In 12 of his 13 starts this season the righr-hander tossed at least six innings and he tallied two complete games. In a team-high 90 2/3 innings pitched, Winkler fanned 99 batters and is limiting opponents to just a .200 batting average against. His outstanding season was honored as he was selected first-team all-conference.
Winkler is the ninth player under head coach Jim Schlossnagle to earn All-American accolades. Since Schlossnagle arrived on campus in 2004, he has produced seven All-American pitchers (Robbie Findlay, 2004; Lance Broadway, 2005; Jake Arrieta, 2006; Andrew Cashner, 2008; Matt Purke, 2010; Steven Maxwell, 2010; Kyle Winkler, 2011).
