FORT WORTH, Texas - A total of five TCU Horned Frogs were drafted on the second day of the 2010 MLB First Year Player Draft. Bryan Holaday (6th round) was the first Frog to be drafted as he went to the Detroit Tigers. Also drafted were Greg Holle (11th round, Milwaukee), Steven Maxwell (12th round, Minnesota), Matt Curry (16th round, Pittsburgh) and Tyler Lockwood (25th round, Boston).

With five players selected in the first 30 rounds of the draft, TCU tied with Rice for the second-most players drafted in the state of Texas on Tuesday. The Frogs' Super Regional opponent, Texas, had seven players drafted. Baylor, Houston and UT Arlington each had four players selected.

Since Jim Schlossnagle's arrival on campus, the Frogs have had 26 players drafted by 14 different organizations. TCU has not had more than three players drafted in one year since having a school-record seven go in the 2007 draft.

A finalist for the Johnny Bench Award, Bryan Holaday has had an outstanding three-year career at TCU. The Tigers made Holaday the 193rd pick in the draft. He is enjoying a career-year for the Frogs with a .347 average. He has established career highs with 86 hits, 22 doubles and 12 home runs. He has tallied 47 RBIs, one short of his career-high set in 2008. Holaday was tabbed a second-team All-American by Louisville Slugger and was selected as a first-team all-conference performer this season.

Greg Holle was selected by the Brewers in the 11th round. He was previously drafted out of high school by the New York Yankees in the 35th round of the 2007 draft. In 2010, he has made 14 appearances and started five contests. The 6-8 junior has a 2-1 record with 34 strikeouts and just seven walks in 29.2 innings of work. He tallied his first career save in the Fort Worth Regional this past weekend with three innings of work against Lamar.

The 2010 Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Year and a second-team All-American, Steven Maxwell has put together an outstanding junior campaign. He paces the starting rotation with a 2.51 ERA and has a record of 11-1 in 16 starts this season. The 6-0 right-hander has combined on four of the team's six shut outs this season. In 97 innings pitched, Maxwell has fanned 87 and held opponents to a .230 batting average.

Matt Curry improved his draft selection by 21 rounds, going in the 16th round to the Minnesota Twins. He was previously picked in the 37th round by the Pirates in 2008. The Frogs' all-conference first baseman has been outstanding in his senior campaign. Curry has set two single-season records this year with 26 doubles and 544 putouts. He has also tied the single-season record with 54 walks this year. The senior is hitting .353 in 60 games played with a team-high 17 home runs. He has racked up 60 RBIs and scored 62 runs.

Tyler Lockwood has been a jack of all trades in his four seasons with TCU. Boston used its 25th round pick to nab the right-hander. This season, Lockwood's role has evolved into that of a closer as he leads the team with five saves. He has posted an ERA of 2.06 in a team-high 24 appearances and has a 6-2 record. In 56 2/3 innings pitched, Lockwood has tallied 35 strikeouts and limited opponents to a .241 batting average against.

The draft concludes Wednesday with the final 20 rounds.
