Two more Frogs taken on second day of draft

FORT WORTH, Texas - Two more TCU Horned Frogs were drafted on the final day on the 2008 MLB First-year Player Draft. Seth Garrison was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 23rd round and Bryan Kervin was tabbed in the 27th round by the Toronto Blue Jays. Andrew Cashner was the first Frog selected as he was the 19th overall pick on Day One. Garrison, the 712th pick overall, made his return to the diamond this season after missing most of the 2007 campaign while recovering from "Tommy John" surgery. Used primarily as a starter, Garrison made 17 appearances, 13 of which were starts. He finished the season with a 2-3 record with one save to go along with a 4.41 ERA in 69 1/3 innings pitched. He ranked fourth on the squad with 44 strikeouts. This is the second time that Garrison has been drafted as the Red Sox selected him in the 25th round a year ago. Kervin completed a successful three seasons in the Purple and White. He put together another solid season as a senior. For the third straight season, Kervin played in and started every game for TCU. In 63 games, the left-hander hit .228 with 72 base hits, 12 doubles and three home runs. He ranked fifth on the team with 40 RBIs. Even more impressive was hit .957 fielding percentage at shortstop. For his career, Kervin finished with 233 hits in a TCU uniform and 284 total hits in four years. He was a career .309 hitter with 52 doubles, three triples and nine home runs. He drove in 135 runs. Since coming to TCU, Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle has seen 18 players drafted. It marks the fourth straight season that at least three Horned Frogs have been drafted.
