FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU student-athletes Matt Vern, Kishelle Paul and Joe Brown were honored by TCU as its Athletes of the Week for their efforts during the week of May 26 to June 1.

Senior Joe Brown of men's track and field was selected as the Male Athlete of the Week after automatically qualifying for the National Championships in the men's javelin at the Midwest Regional. Brown, who recorded a fifth-place finish with a throw of 224 feet, made the all-regional squad by crushing his own school record in the men's javelin.

Junior Kishelle Paul of women's track and field was honored as the Female Athlete of the Week after claiming the regional championship in the women's 400-meter hurdles to qualify for the NCAA Championships on the final day of the 2008 NCAA Midwest Regional. Paul, a junior from Georgia, recorded a seasonal best time of 57.81 seconds to win the regional. Her time is currently ranked No. 15 in the NCAA and is the top mark in the Mountain West Conference.

Matt Vern was selected as the Road Warrior of the Week as he led TCU baseball at the Stillwater Regional. The junior gave TCU a lead it would never relinquish with a third-inning home run in a 10-5 victory over Western Kentucky last Saturday afternoon. For the regional, Vern recorded two home runs, four runs-batted-in, while posting a batting average of .455 at the plate.
