FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU freshman right-handed pitcher Sean Hoelscher was tabbed a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American. Hoelscher becomes the sixth Horned Frog freshman under the tutelage of Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle and staff to earn the distinction. He is the seventh in the history of the program.

"We are really proud of Sean and the season he had for TCU," remarked Schlossnagle. "It was the product of a lot of hard work on his part as well as Randy Mazey (pitching coach) and Danny Wheat (baseball trainer). I look forward to Sean continuing to progress to be one of the elite pitchers in college baseball."

Hoelscher finished the season with a 7-3 record to go along with a 5.02 earned run average. The seven victories tied for second-most on a squad that finished the season with a 44-19 record. In 66 1/3 innings pitched, Hoelscher tallied 53 punch outs, third-most on the team, and walked 26. He limited opponents to a .253 batting average against. The freshman made 16 appearances overall and started 15 games. At the end of the regular season, he was named second-team all-Mountain West Conference.

He joins a list of prominent former Horned Frogs that have been named Freshman All-Americans. Royce Huffman was the first Frog to earn the honor in 1996. In Schlossnagle's first season in 2004 Chad Huffman, Shelby Ford and German Duran were honored, followed by Andrew Walker and Matt McGuirk in 2005.
