FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Horned Frogs open up play in the NCAA Stillwater Regional Friday night at 1 p.m. against Wichita State. The Frogs will be looking to avenge a three-game sweep at the hands of the Shockers earlier this season. TCU is ranked as high as No. 18 in the country, while Wichita State is ranked as high as No. 14. All games of the Regional are being webstreamed on Oklahoma State's website.
TCU NOTABLES
TCU claimed its fifth straight conference tournament crown, coming out of the loser's bracket to defeat New Mexico.
The Frogs moved up three spots in the national poll to No. 18 in the Baseball America poll earlier this week, while also making appearances in four other polls.
The Frogs earned five all-tournament selections, with Clint Arnold taking home MVP honors.
At one point, the Frogs were 14-12, since, they have gone 29-5 to improve to 43-17.
TCU TOURNAMENT NOTABLES
The Frogs are making their fifth straight Regional appearance and the seventh overall in school history.
TCU is one of just 18 schools to appear in the last five NCAA Regionals.
The Frogs are 5-8 in Regional play under Jim Schlossnagle.
TCU is playing in its third Regional in the state of Oklahoma; 1994 in Stillwater, 2006 in Norman and now back in Stillwater.
For the first time in school history, the Frogs won two games in the regional a year ago, advancing to the championship game versus Rice.
TCU is a No. 3 seed in the Stillwater Regional, the second time in this five-year streak. The Frogs were a three-seed in the Austin Regionl in 2004.
TCU vs. WICHITA STATE SERIES NOTES
TCU and Wichita State will meet for the ninth time on the diamond.
The Shockers hold a 7-1 advantage in the series.
Wichita State swept TCU earlier this season in Wichita.
TCU and Wichita State have met in the postseason on one other occasion, in 2006 at the NCAA Norman Regional with WSU winning 18-8.
