FORT WORTH, Texas - Two former Horned Frogs All-American pitchers earned Pitcher of the Week honors in their respective leagues earlier this week. Lance Broadway, a member of Triple A Charlotte, was tabbed as the International League's top pitcher for the week, while Jake Arrieta, who pitches for Single A Frederick, garnered honors from the Carolina League.

Broadway, a first-round pick of the Chicago White Sox in 2005, is the League's only hurler to win multiple games since May 5. Those victories came against the top two teams in the IL. Broadway defeated Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday, holding the Yankees scoreless in 5.0 innings. On Saturday, he tossed a complete game against Toledo in Game 1 of a doubleheader. Against Toledo, he allowed a run on just three hits with no walks, improving his record on the season to 5-1.

Broadway has been one of the League's most impressive pitchers so far in 2008, posting a 1.13 ERA (2nd in the IL) in 48.0 innings of work (4th).

Arrieta, a fifth-round pick in 2007 by the Baltimore Orioles, went 1-0 in two starts this past week, with an earned run average of 1.50. He struck out 13 batters in just 12 innings of work.

On the season, he's now 3-0 with a 2.01 ERA. He currently leads the league in K's with 53 in 44.2 innings of work. Opposing hitters are batting just .147 against him.
