Baseball Practice Gets Underway Friday
Jan. 24, 2013
FORT WORTH, Texas - Preparations for the 2013 baseball season get underway Friday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. The TCU baseball team will hit the field at 2:15 for the first spring practice. All practices are open to the public.
TCU is coming off an exciting 2012 campaign that saw it reach an NCAA Super Regional for the third time in the last four years. The Horned Frogs finished the season ranked as high as No. 15 after posting a 40-22 record.
The Frogs return 17 letterwinners from last season's squad that captured the NCAA College Station Regional title and its seventh straight league title. Additionally, five of the everyday field starters return as do eight pitchers. This past fall, TCU welcomed 16 new faces to the squad. The group was tabbed as the 11th best recruiting class in the nation by Baseball America.
A pair of preseason polls were released on Thursday and the Horned Frogs were prominent in both. The USA Today/Coach's poll was released and had the Frogs at No. 12. TCU came in at No. 14 in the Baseball America poll. In previous polls, the Frogs were ranked No. 15 by the NCBWA and 14th by Perfect Game.
