TCU advanced to the NCAA Super Regional Championships following a ninth-inning, game-winning hit by Jason Coats en route to leading the Horned Frogs to a 5-4 victory over Oregon State on Sunday evening at Lupton Stadium.

With the score tied at 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth-inning, Bryan Holaday collected a single to right field then advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Following an intentional walk to Chris Eillington, Coats won the game for the Frogs with a single to right field, plating Holaday from second base.

Coats who was selected as the NCAA Central Regional Championship Most Outstanding Player finished the game with three hits, including a double, while driving in two runs.

Oregon State jumped out to a 1-0 in the top half of the first inning when Adalberto Santos drilled a triple to left-centerfield then was plated one hitter later when Koa Kahalehoe grounded out to second base.

In the top of the third inning, Stefen Romero increased the Beavers lead to 4-0 after the OSU third baseman connected on a bases-clearing double to right field that plated Ryan Ortiz, Jared Norris and Santos.

The Frogs responded in the bottom of the third inning when Aaron Schultz scored on a Matt Carpenter sacrifice fly to make the score 4-1.

In the fifth frame, the Frogs received RBI singles from Matt Vern, Holaday and Coats en route to tying the game at 4-4 following a three-run, four-hit inning. Holaday finished with three hits to go along with two runs scored and one RBI in four plate appearances.

Eric Marshall picked up the victory for the Frogs and improved to 2-2 on the season as the TCU junior pitched a scoreless ninth-inning, allowing only one hit and striking out one hitter. Tyler Lockwood hurled 7.0 innings of action allowing four runs on five hits while striking out seven hitters en route to earning the no decision.

Kevin Rhoderick suffered the loss for the Beavers as the OSU closer fell to 3-3 on the season after tossing 1.1 innings of action while giving up one run on two hits.

Santos was the top hitter for the Beavers as the OSU designated hitter collected three hits while Romero finished with three RBI in the contest.

With the victory, the Frogs improved to 37-19 and will advance to the NCAA Super Regional Championships while Oregon State concluded its season at 39-18.
