Wilson Blasts TCU Past Southwest Texas, 4-3
March 10, 2002 ROUND ROCK, Texas - Senior center fielder Marshall Wilson (Austin, Texas/Stephen F. Austin) hit two home runs, including the game-winner in the ninth inning, to lead TCU past Southwest Texas Sunday night at Dell Diamond. The win in the finale of the Express College Classic evened the Horned Frogs' record at 2-2 for the weekend tournament. With the game tied at three in the top of the ninth, Wilson his second dinger of the game, a solo shot, well over the left field wall to give the Frogs a 4-3 lead. His first round-tripper came in the fifth, a two-run bomb, which tied the score at two. TCU's only other run came courtesy of Walter Olmstead (San Antonio, Texas/MacArthur), who hit a massive homer of his own onto the top of the clubhouse well beyond the left field fence to temporarily give the Frogs a 3-2 lead in the sixth. Southwest Texas (13-6) tied the game in the bottom of the sixth with an unearned run off TCU starting pitcher Kyle Shoemaker (Edmond, Okla./Santa Fe/Seminole J.C.). Shoemaker scattered 10 hits over six innings, leaving with the contest tied at three. Horned Frog reliever Ryan Nesloney (Houston, Texas/Jersey Village) pitched three scoreless, hitless innings to earn the first victory of his career. The freshman allowed just one of the ten batters he faced to reach base on a walk. TCU (8-11) returns to action Tuesday for the last of five-straight games at Dell Diamond, versus No. 14 Texas. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
