TCU Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle
On the offense against Texas State:
"We weren't very good, obviously. We struck out 13 times. It's a tough night to hit, in this ballpark on a night like this, it's tough for both teams to hit. We put enough balls into play and they made two good plays in centerfield. We didn't adjust to the breaking ball, and, to their credit, they just kept throwing it."
On the performance of freshman pitcher Brandon Finnegan:
"I'm very pleased with Brandon Finnegan tonight. This was a good step forward for him. He can be better, he had one walk, but he can throw more strikes. He can be better than what he was but that was certainly the best he's been."
On his message to his younger players:
"We competed and I told the team that. I don't doubt anyone's want or desire or effort, but I do doubt our ability to make an adjustment at home plate. We have guys out, but no one is going to feel sorry for us there. I expect the guys in the lineup to be able to represent TCU in the highest fashion and we didn't do that tonight."
TCU freshman pitcher Brandon Finnegan
On this game as a confidence booster:
"I felt good, I thought I did pretty well. In that first inning, those two hits really hurt me. But, this boosted my confidence a lot and this was a big step for me to come back and pitch well."
On his rhythm in the past games:
"I think I was trying to do too much my first couple outings. I had a few meetings with coaches and they told me to calm down which helped me with my routine."
On maintaining focus after two tough losses:
"We have to come back tomorrow at practice and just go at it. We just have to come back and go as hard as we can, that's all we can do."
