CONWAY, S.C. - The No. 12 TCU Horned Frogs committed three costly errors that led to three unearned runs as they dropped a 10-5 decision to UNC Wilmington Saturday afternoon. TCU was led at the plate by Keith Conlon, who drove in three and Steven Trout, who hit his first home run of the season.

The game got off to an ominous start in the first inning. After retiring the first batter of the game, five straight Seahawks connected for base hits as they stormed out to an early 4-0 lead. Jonathan Batts drove in two with a looping single to right field. A seeing-eye single off the bat of Mark Carver drove in Batts and a wild pitch gave Wilmington a 4-0 lead.

TCU cut the lead in half in the bottom of the frame. Bryan Kervin worked a walk and came around to score on a Steven Trout long ball over the left center field fence.

Chance Corgan settled in and kept the Seahawks off the board, allowing the Frogs to complete the comeback in the bottom of the third inning.

Just like in the first, the Frogs took advantage of a walk. With one out, Trout drew the free pass and Keith Conlon delivered with his second home run of the season to tie the game at four.

From there, the Seahawks took control of the contest. With two outs in the fifth, Steve Halford singled. The inning was kept alive by an error on the infield and Justin Barefoot made it hurt with an RBI single to center to give Wilmington a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

The Frogs had chances in each of the next four innings to push across the tying run, but the Seahawk pitchers were able to work out of jams to preserve the lead.

TCU's best chance to knot the game at five came in the sixth with an Andrew Walker lead off double that ended Brandon Holt's afternoon. Cody Dickens came on and retired the next three batters to end the threat.

The wheels came off in the eighth as Wilmington opened up a six-run lead, scoring five times on just two hits. The big blow in the inning was a one-out double off the bat of Daniel Hargrave that pushed the Seahawk lead to three, 7-4.

The Frogs tacked on a run in the bottom of the ninth on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Conlon to account for the final score.

Corgan dropped to 1-1 with the loss. He went 4 2/3 innings and gave up five runs (four earned) on eight hits. He struck out five and walked two.

With their second consecutive loss, the Frogs fall to 6-3 on the season.
