TCU Harriers bound for NCAA Regionals tomorrow
Nov. 11, 2005 FORT WORTH, Texas - A big weekend is in store for the TCU men's and women's cross country teams as they join 300-plus Division I schools across the nation, hitting the courses for the NCAA Division I Cross Country Regionals tomorrow. The Horned Frogs will be among 33 teams in the South Central regional, hosted by Baylor University in Waco, Texas, to battle for spots in nationals later this month. "We're excited to be competing in the NCAA Regional this weekend," cross country coach Patrick Cunniff said. "The team is fully rested and everyone is healthy. We're ready to compete at our best. We're looking forward to testing ourselves against some of the best teams in the region." Horned Frogs' Kip Kangogo, Jackson Langat, Matt Manly, JT Reinert and Cody Cook will compete in the men's field that boasts No. 2 Arkansas and 10th-ranked Texas, while the TCU women of Calandra Stewart, Cassie Hostick, Halie Bullin, McKale Davis, Alyson Trovato, Ashley Young and Katrina Zielinski will go head-to-head with the likes of 19th-ranked Arkansas, No. 20 Baylor and No. 25 Rice. Other teams in the South Central field also features Arkansas-Fayetteville, Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Centenary (La.), Grambling State, Houston, Lamar, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, LSU, McNeese State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, North Texas, Northwestern State, Prairie View A&M, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas Southern, Texas-Arlington, Texas-Pan American, Texas-San Antonio, and Tulane. The top two teams and top three individuals in each of the nine regions (Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Mountain, Northeast, South, South Central, Southeast and West) receive automatic bids to the NCAA Nationals, which will be held Nov. 21 in Terre Haute, Ind.
