FORT WORTH – The TCU cross country squads split up this weekend for a pair of meets. The Horned Frogs women will compete at the Notre Dame Invitational in a 5K Friday at 2 p.m. TCU’s men’s squad will compete at the Cowboy Jamboree hosted by Oklahoma State Saturday at 9:45 a.m., running an 8K.
The TCU women’s team finished second at the Ken Garland Invitational, with Agnes Kemboi winning the 5K competition and earning Big 12 Runner of the Week. Competing for the Horned Frogs in South Bend will be seniors Katie Dalton, Kemboi and Tricia Terry, sophomore Shannon Speir and freshmen Ashley Eckhoff, Maggie Escobar, Genna McCarthy and debutant Laura Orlie.
The women’s team will also see a boost in Division I competition, with the Horned Frogs being joined by Eastern Michigan, Green Bay, Indiana State, IPFW, Murray State, hosts Notre Dame, UMKC, UT-Arlington, Valparaiso, Western Illinois and Youngstown State.
TCU’s men’s team left winners of the Ken Garland Invitational, edging out hosts North Texas for the title. Preston Newsome led the squad with a second place finish. The TCU squad for the Cowboy Jamboree will consist of senior Dave Emerson, junior Jake Rossmango and sophomores Kevin Case, Andy Kramer, Taylor Moult, Newsome and Mason Richards.
The Horned Frogs men will get a first taste at Big 12 competition on the season with Oklahoma joining hosts Oklahoma State. Other Division I schools competing include North Texas, Oral Roberts, Stephen F. Austin, UTEP and Wichita State.
