GoFrogs.com recently caught up with sophomore Festus Kigen following his first-place showing at the UNT Invite this past weekend.

Kigen, a sophomore from Kenya, won in Denton with a time of 24:41.33. He opened the season placing second at the Baylor Twilight Invite. Following that outing, Kigen was named Gulliver's Travel Road Warrior of the Week.

GoFrogs.com: What has coach Winget been like?
Festus Kigen: He is a nice coach. We are all still adjusting to each other and getting to know one another.

GF: What are your goals this season?
FK: My goals are to win conference and finish in one of the top-10 positions at nationals.

GF: What does it feel like to be a part of the TCU cross country/track and field family?
FK: It's really fun being a part of this family. Everything is well taken care of because we have a wonderful coaching staff.

GF: What has it been like to compete for TCU?
FK It's amazing.

GF: What would you like to be remembered for once your TCU career is over?
FK: I would like to be remembered for breaking multiple school records.

GF: Explain a typical week in the life of Festus Kigen?
FK: I run 80 miles per week. My typical day starts at 5:30 a.m. After that I go to practice for two hours before heading to class, which typically starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. Then it's off to another practice at 4 p.m., before ending the day in my bed.

GF: What does your training schedule involve?
FK: It involves a lot of things from eating well, to getting enough rest and being mentally ready to work hard.

GF: What has been the hardest thing you have had to adjust to since you came to TCU?
FK: Probably the American food has been the hardest thing I have had to adjust to.

GF: What is or has been the funnest thing that you have done since coming to TCU?
FK: I would have to say driving on the wrong side of the road.
