TCU's Jackson Langat claims Individual Honors at the UNT Cross Country Opener
Sept. 14, 2002 DENTON -- TCU's Jackson Langat posted a time of 20:35 in the men's four-mile race to claim individual honors in the UNT Opener. The men finished third overall, while the TCU women placed second in the five-team field. UT-Arlington captured the men's team title with 32 points after all five of the Mavericks' top runners placed in the top 10. Trailing UTA on the men's side were runner-up SMU (58 points), TCU (61 points), North Texas (78 points) and Arkansas State (130 points). In the women's field, the Frogs were second with 33 points, four behind SMU's team total of 29 points. UTA was third with 68 points, followed by Arkansas State (100 points) and North Texas (103 points). Individually, the TCU women placed third, fifth, sixth and seventh place. Alayne Thompson led the TCU women with a time of 11:14, placing third. She was followed by SMU's Emily Field, who finished fourth with a time of 11:17. Katrina Zielinkski placed fifth with a time of 11:49. Robin Schacht was sixth, finishing the two-mile race with a time of 12:01, two seconds ahead of Heather Isbell's seventh-place total of 12:03. Shannon McKinney finished in 12th place with a time of 12:31, while Katie Cosgrove finished 24th with a time of 13:20.
John Bundren finished ninth with a time of 21:32, while Brad Macialewicz was 11th with a time of 21:44. Raita Yamamouchi finished 18th with a time of 22:56, while Steven Lenny was 20th with a time of 23:03. Also running for TCU was Case Martinec, who finished 26th with a time of 23:35.
