Mary Kinyanjui captured the individual title at the Texas A&M Invitational for the second straight year, helping the TCU women to a second place finish among 13 teams on Friday night. The TCU men placed a respectable sixth among 10 teams.

"We had a good night," said TCU cross country coach Patrick Cunniff. "It was good to see Mary get the win. Calandra Stewart also ran very well, with another top 10 finish. Cassie Hostick really competed hard in her first collegiate race. On the men's side, Matt Manly turned in another strong performance, while Johnathan Bundren and Alex Morris ran well. We were much improved over a week ago on both sides," continued Cunniff. "We made the progress I was hoping to see."

Kinyanjui, running in her final season of collegiate competition, covered the 5K course in 17:57, 15 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. Kinyanjui also won this event a year ago when it was a 6K race. Stewart placed sixth in a time of 18:27. The women totaled 56 points to earn the runnerup honors behind Texas A&M, which netted 35 points.

Manly, running in just his second collegiate race, covered the 8K distance in 27:18 to place 23rd overall. Sophomore Alex Morris, running for the first time this season, placed 36th overall with a time of 27:55, just five seconds ahead of teammate Johnathan Bundren.

Both teams will enjoy next weekend off before they travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma to take part in the Cowboy Jamboree on Saturday, October 2.
