Keitany And Njubi Take Individual Honors At Movin' Mavs Cross Country Challenge

ARLINGTON - TCU's Glady's Keitany and Eliud Njubi opened the 2001 cross country season in impressive fashion, taking individual honors in the UTA Movin' Mavs Cross Country Challenge Saturday in Arlington. Keitany led the women to a second-place finish, while the men finished sixth. Baylor took team honors in both the men's and women's races. Keitany, the 2000 WAC Individual champion, clocked in at 11:18 in the two-mile course, finishing 22 seconds ahead of Baylor's Kara Newton. The individual title was the fifth in two seasons for Keitany. Njubi, who earned All-American honors last season, won the four-mile race with a time of 19:54, 20 seconds ahead of Baylor's Matt Chance.
