Volleyball Blanks Stephen F. Austin
NACOGDOCHES, Texas (Sept. 20) The TCU volleyball team improved it s record to 8-6 with a 3-0 shutout over Stephen F. Austin State Tuesday September 19.
The Frogs jumped out to their usual 5-0 lead in game one before the Lady Jacks mounted a mini-comeback and pulled within one point. Amy Atamanczuk hit an incredible .684 (14 -1-19) in game one to lead the Frogs as they held on to win game one 15-11. Game two was more of the same for TCU as the Frogs posted an early lead but failed to sustain the pace as SFA battled back. The Frogs made another late spurt to take game two 15-8. The Lady Jacks played TCU point-for-point in game three but could not overtake the Frogs, losing 15-12 and ending the match.
"I am very please with the way our kids played tonight" said coach Sandy Troudt. "We were tired, we have a small virus going around on the team and our arms are dead. We played very well considering the way we felt."
Atamanczuk continues to lead the Frogs on offense as she hit .475 with 22 kills and only 3 attack errors. Marci King had another good night as well, as she hit.382 with 15 kills and only 2 errors. Lindsay Hayes continues to get it done from the setter position, she recorded 44 assists with no errors.
TCU opens conference play Friday as they play host to cross-town rival SMU at 7:00 p.m. in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
