Olympic Results

BEIJING, China - Virgil Hodge's run at the 2008 Olympics came to an end Tuesday as she finished fifth overall in her heat in the women's 200 meters at National Stadium.

"It's the Olympics and my first Olympics. I just thank God for helping me get to the 100 and 200. I would have loved to make the semifinals, but obviously at 50 meters I tightened up coming home after I ran a good curve. That is something my coach taught me and I guess I just did the opposite," Hodge told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "I wouldn't trade it for the world. It's my first Olympics and I just need to get ready for the next one."

The six-time All-American finished fifth in heat No. 4 of the quarterfinals, clocking a time of 23.17 seconds. In the preliminaries, the St. Kitts native qualified for the quarterfinals by recording a time of 23.14 to finish third in heat No. 1.

In the men's 200-meter semifinals, Kim Collins qualified for Wednesday's finals by crossing the finish line with a seasonal-best time of 20.25 seconds. Overall, Collins finished in fourth-place in heat No. 2.
