TCU men and women selected to 2006 All-MWC track and field squad
June 1, 2006 FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Flyin' Frogs had a nine student-athletes on both the men's and women's track team named to the 2006 All-Mountain West Conference squad, the league office announced on Thursday. "Obviously I am pleased to have nine on both sides receive honors," stated TCU head coach Darryl Anderson. "This says a lot about our program and a lot about the student-athletes in the program. I am quite pleased with the numbers." On the men's side, Lewis Banda (200-, 400-meter dash), Ché Chavez (400-meter dash), Jonathan Jackson (triple jump), Kip Kangogo (1,500-, 5,000-meter run), Jackson Langat (800 meter run), Otis McDaniel (100-, 200-meter dash), Bradley Reed (100-meter dash) and Justyn Warner (100-meter dash) all received recognition for their efforts during the outdoor season. The 4x100 meter relay squad of Delwayne Delaney, McDaniel, Reed and Warner garnered all-conference accolades as did the 4x400 relay team of Banda, Chavez, Langat and Reed. Julie Curtis (100-, 400-meter hurdles), Virgil Hodge (100-, 200-meter dash), Nathandra John (400-meter dash), Deborah Jones (200-meter dash), Jamee Jones (100-, 200-meter dash), Candis Kelly (shot put), Kishelle Paul (100-meter hurdles) and Calandra Stewart (800-, 1,500-meter run) received All-MWC plaudits on the women's side. Hodge, D. Jones, J. Jones and Paul took home 4x100-meter relay honors. The 4x400-meter team of Marquita Davis, D. Jones, J. Jones and John were also recognized for their efforts. The men's and women's teams will send 11 student-athletes to Sacramento, Calif., on Wednesday to compete in the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
