Stewart Just Misses NCAA Regional Mark
May. 1, 2005 Palo Alto, Calif. - TCU sophomore Calandra Stewart just missed qualifying for the NCAA regional meet in the 1,500 meters at the Cardinal Invitational, held on the Stanford campus Sunday night. Stewart finished seventh in the race with a personal best time of 4:28.10, missing the regional cutoff of 4:27.80 by just three-tenths of a second.
"Calandra ran a good race in a strong field," said TCU distance coach Patrick Cunniff. "She was able to set a personal record and really came close to the regional standard. Hopefully she can use this to propel her at the conference meet in two weeks."
Some of the Flyin' Frogs will compete next Saturday at the UTA Open, which will be the final tuneup prior to the Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held in Houston, May 12-14.
