Track crosses town for UTA Invitational on Saturday

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU track and field teams will be close to home when they return to the track Saturday, traveling across town for the University of Texas at Arlington Invitational at Maverick Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The Flyin' Frogs will compete against 15 teams, which includes Barton County (Kan.) C.C., Johnson County (Kan.) C.C., Louisiana-Monroe, North Dakota State, Northwestern State, North Texas, Northwood, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana, Tarleton State, meet host Texas-Arlington, and the women's team from SMU.

TCU opened its outdoor campaign last week with regional-qualifying performances from six Frogs and both the men and women 4x1 and 4x4 relay teams at the Dr Pepper Invitational in Waco, Texas.

Seventeen members from both the TCU men and women squads will travel to the UTA meet. Sophomore Joe Brown will set the Frogs in motion at 11 a.m. in the javelin. Brown set new javelin records in the Mountain West Conference and at TCU with a personal-best throw of 222-05 (67.79m) in Waco last week.

Saturday's meet schedule will feature the field events at 9 a.m., while running events start at 1 p.m. A ceremony to dedicate the re-naming of the meet from the Arlington Invitational to the Bobby Lane Arlington Invitational will be at 12:45 p.m. during the opening ceremonies.
