Killen tosses regional qualifying mark

FORT WORTH, Texas - Sophomore Tommy Killen tossed a regional qualifying mark of 179 feet, 2 inches to win the men's discus on Friday at the Horned Frog Invitational. Killen, a sophomore from New Iberia, La., tossed 179-02 (54.61m) to place first overall in the event. Killen's mark is currently the sixth best toss in the NCAA. On the women's side, TCU freshman Stormy Harrison opened up the spring season by placing first overall with a toss of 147-04 (44.92m). She was followed by junior Candis Kelley who recorded a throw of 132-05 (40.37m) to finish in second-place at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex. TCU will continue its outdoor season tomorrow with the second-day of the Horned Frog Invitational. Start time is set for 10 a.m. at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex.
