TCU to be represented at NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships
March 8, 2007 FORT WORTH, Texas -- Virgil Hodge will represent the TCU track and field team in the women's 60 meters and 200 meters, while the Flyin' Frogs' women's mile relay team will also participate when competition begins Friday at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. At last year's event, TCU's Jackson Langat won the NCAA national championship in the men's 800 meters. Hodge will run on Friday's opening day. She set a TCU record with a time of 7.31 in the 60 meters at last month's Mountain West Conference Championships. At the same meet, she established another school mark with an NCAA automatic-qualifying time of 23.27 in the 200 meters. It was a mark that also set an MWC meet and all-time league indoor record. "Virgil has done an outstanding job in working through the adversity we've faced with weather hampering our training," TCU coach Darryl Anderson said. "It will be exciting to watch her. She's ready to run." The mile relay team of Marquita Davis, Deborah Jones, Kishelle Paul, Nathandra John and Jamee Jones will run on Saturday. It will be the first time a women's mile relay team has represented TCU at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. At last week's Last Chance Meet, also in Fayetteville, Deborah Jones, Davis,
Paul and John posted a TCU record in the women's 4x400 meter relay with
a time of 3:35.49. It bettered the previous standard of 3:37.48 by the same
quartet at the Feb. 9 Tyson Invitational.
