FORT WORTH - The TCU track and field program will have three representatives at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark. Chaniqua Corinealdi (women's 60-meter dash), Charles Silmon (men's 60-meter dash) and Lorraine Ugen (women's long jump) will all represent the Horned Frogs at the national meet. All three will be making their second appearance at the indoor national championships.
Corinealdi, a senior from Killeen, was the last accepted entry for the 16-competitor field for the women's 60-meter dash. The 2013 Big 12 Champion in the 60-meter dash, Corinealdi recorded a 7.34 seconds en route to earning TCU's first Big 12 title across all athletics programs. She competed in the 60-meter dash last season at the NCAA Indoor Championships, finishing 17th and earning honorable mention All-America honors.
Silmon, a senior from Waco, earned his qualifying time of 6.65 seconds during the prelims session of the Big 12 Indoor Championships. A five-time All-American, Silmon was the 2013 Big 12 Indoor Champion in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.66 seconds in the finals. He competed in the 60-meter dash last season at the NCAA Indoor Championships, finishing 14th and earning second-team All-America honors.
Ugen, a junior from London, posted her qualifying mark on her third jump at the Big 12 Indoor Championships. Ugen posted a leap of 20-10 3/4 (6.37m) to give her a third place finish at the conference championships. She competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships last season.
Ugen will be the first Frog to compete in the women's long jump beginning on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Corinealdi and Silmon will run back-to-back with the 60-meter dash starting on Friday 6:55 p.m. The finals for the 60-meter dash is Saturday at 7:00 p.m. with the women running first followed by the men.
