TCU long jumper Aundre Edwards has been selected as the Conference USA Male Track & Field Athlete of the Week for the week of February 15, the conference office announced today.

The junior from Kingston, Jamaica finished fourth (second among collegians) in the men's invitational long jump competition at the Razorback-Tyson Invitational on Saturday. He notched an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 7.87 meters (25 feet, 10 inches), surpassing Cleavon Dillon's school record of 7.86 meters set last season. Edwards' effort ties for the third longest jump recorded in Division I indoor track & field this season.

The award marks the second time that Edwards has been honored by the conference this season. He also was named the C-USA Male Track & Field Athlete of the Week on January 28. It is the fifth time that a TCU track athlete has been honored this spring. Previous winners include Jerry Harris and Donita Harmon on two occasions.

The TCU men's team track team slipped to 11th place in the latest Trackwire 25 poll released today. The Frogs are expected to score 17 points at the NCAA Indoor Championships. The Southeastern Conference continues to dominate the standings, with SEC schools holding the top five slots. The Trackwire 25 projects a hypothetical score for the NCAA meet, factoring in injury reports and other variables supported by information gathered from coaches and NCAA-qualifying competitions across the country.

The TCU Flyin' Frogs are off this week as they begin preparations for the Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held on the University of Houston campus Friday and Saturday, February 28 and March 1.
